CrunchGear’s Doug Aamoth is currently liveblogging from the Apple Store on Commonwealth Avenue in Boston. The line is now a mile long and growing. Yes, folks: This is a line to go into an Apple store in Boston. They’re not even announcing a 3G iPhone. More as we get it.

We’re fast approaching our super fun CrunchNetwork Prague Meet-up and getting ready for the big night. We’re going to have some surprises coming up so watch this space but until then feel free to RSVP by email or on Facebook.
Remember the event is on Friday, May 23, 2008 from 7pm until ?? at Restaurace Zvonařka.
The program will be fairly basic but I’m planning an elevator pitch face-off, allowing 10 start-ups the chance to do a 2 minute presentation to the entire audience using limited tools. We’ll then pick the best pitch and that team will get an as-yet-to-be-undetermined really great prize (think plasma TV). If you’re interested in participating, please contact Jack DeNeut at jack @ nelso dot com.
If you have something you want to discuss with me for consideration on TechCrunch, MobileCrunch, or CrunchGear, please have a paper presentation handy with a detailed description of your project — powerpoint and business plans are right out. Consider creating a press-release for the event.

Dash, everyone’s favorite navigation company, has just released its open API for developers. Using some basic tools, you can highlight any geographical information you want — propertly listings, speed traps, and weather reports. Because the device has two-way communication with the cloud, data providers can send almost anything to the device. While some of the apps are map-based, you can also sync contacts with Funambol and even use MediaGuide to see what’s playing on the radio.
You can sign up for the API by contacting developer@dash.net.

HBO will sell “The Sopranos,” “Sex and the City,” “Deadwood” and “Rome,” “Flight of the Conchords” and “The Wire,” among others, on the iTunes store. All 94 episodes of “Sex in the City” will be available (a mere $187 for the whole run!) at $1.99 each while more popular shows like the “Sopranos” and “Deadwood” will cost $2.99.
HBO is also trying to sell its content on a website called HBO on Broadband. However, this move monetizes the service completely, allowing even non-subscribers access to HBO content.

Schmap, publisher of over 200 free online travel guides, has opened access to their guides for iPhone and iPod Touch users by way of a remarkably nifty web application. The guides cover cities throughout the US, Europe, Australia, Canada, and New Zealand, and provide information on everything from the city’s historical background to the best places to get your drink on.
As portrayed in the image above, the web app utilizes the iPhone’s gyro sensors and a Safari specific Javascript function to determine how the device is currently oriented, and swaps between two display modes accordingly. If the device is oriented vertically, points of interest are displayed as a simple list; if horizontal, the points are overlaid on a map of the area. This allows the user to jump back and forth between modes without having to dig through menus, and is an ingenious way to make the most of the available screen real estate.

Eye-Fi announced two new wireless memory cards today, and they’ve dubbed their original card with a new name.
The new line-up:
- Eye-Fi Explore: The Explore card can automatically locate nearby WiFi networks and geotag your photos using Skyhook’s global Wi-Fi positioning system. It can also automatically connect to any of Wayport’s 10,000+ hotspots (in other words, pretty much every McDonald’s in the US). MSRP $129.
- Eye-Fi Share: The original Eye-Fi card with a new name. It allows users to automatically upload photos straight to their favorite photo sharing service over WiFi. MSRP $99.
- Eye-Fi Home: This one’s for the folks who transfer a lot of photos to their computer, but don’t need them to be auto uploaded to any photo sharing sites. The Home allows users to transfer photos directly to their PC without the use of cables, card readers, or docks. Pretty much the same card as the Share, without the sharing part. MSRP $79.

The Apple online store has stopped selling iPhones completely, stating they are currently unavailable. What does it mean? In some way I’m inclined to say “not much.” Apple rarely telegraphs its moves this far in advance. However, since O2 in the UK has stopped selling iPhones and a number of folks have had trouble buying them in stores, we might be seeing a next-gen iPhone in the next few days. Here’s hoping.

Imagine the Wii with 3D vision. The console would understand if you were behind an object and images would move accordingly and you could reach out with your hand to “touch” items on the screen. The technology is real and it works and PrimeSense, a small Israeli company, is trying to release it into the wild.
PrimeSense, which just closed a $20 million funding round led by Canaan Partners with lead investors Gemini Israel Funds (who also provided the seed funding) and Genesis Partners. The company is moving out of development into sales.
